For a rental made of clarity and comfort

Frank s.r.l. Car rental, after 30 years of activity, expands its car park to cover the headquarters of Catania Fontanarossa . Indeed, the Sicilian capital is certainly a popular destination for spending the summer holidays. To move freely and comfortably visit all the tourist stops, you will need to rent a car.

The clear car rental

The rental with La Frank s.r.l. Car hire is quite simple. A lean rental without hundreds of bureaucratic practices that only create queues during check-in and without unclear clauses. Just follow the instructions on the website and in just 3 steps you will have your rental car.

The Steps for car rental

At the top of this page you notice a section where you are asked to select a pick-up and delivery location (just click in the appropriate space and the system will list the available locations). Likewise, you can enter a pick-up and delivery date.

Click the search button.

The system will search for you the cars available for the place and date you entered. Once you have selected the car, click on continue, select optionals and any additional insurance for the vehicle and proceed with the online payment. Furthermore, if you choose to pay by card or by prepaid debit card (even simple poste pay), the payment will be equal to 10% of the total order. This way you can book your car in total peace of mind.

You can also choose to rent the car with or without a credit card.

Information for tourists

Now that you have a comfortable way to get around, we recommend that you visit:

Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral of Catania

Characteristic of this square is the Elephant Fountain located in its center. Italian art with references to ancient Egypt, a majestic elephant wrapped in lava and an Egyptian obelisk characterize this sculpture. For the more superstitious, legend has it that this statue appeases any eruptions of Etna. In this square, you can also admire the Palazzo del Municipio of Catania.

Behind the fountain is the Cathedral of Catania, which can be visited for free on any day of the week. Cathedral dedicated to the martyr Sant 'Agata, has an exterior made entirely of splendid marble

Famous is the patronal feast dedicated to the Saint every February 5th; her relics are kept inside the cathedral.

In the cathedral, you can also see the tomb of Vincenzo Bellini, to whom the name of the Catania airport, the famous classical composer, is dedicated. Born in Catania in 1801, he is the author of many works, including the "Norma", his most famous masterpiece.

The fish market

Just behind the Piazza del Duomo, take a stroll to the fish market, also known as the Pescheria. But be careful, this is a real old-fashioned market!

You'll find yourself walking among beheaded swordfish, live lobsters, sardines and anchovies. The fish are emptied before your eyes and you may find yourself seeing blood and water as a result.

Adjacent to La Pescheria you will find a slightly more classic market, famous for its vast selection of cheeses but also - perhaps less attractive - for the sale of animal carcasses and sheep's heads, horns included!

Via Etnea

From Piazza del Duomo, take Via Etnea, the main street of Catania. That's right, the name of this street comes from the vision it offers. In fact, at the end of the road, if the weather is clear, you can admire the silhouette of the famous volcano that tourists from all over the world adore: Etna.

University Square

This square is surrounded by two magnificent buildings facing each other: the University Building which houses the ancient university and the San Giuliano Palace. Both palaces have splendid facades and beautiful internal courtyards.

Villa Bellini

The park, located in Via Etnea, is open until 10pm. You can stroll among its large trees and its many fountains or simply sit on a bench in the shade. The place is really nice, with a playground dedicated to children (in case you have children!). Events and concerts are regularly organized here.

Via Crociferi

Via Crociferi is the second street you must visit during your trip to Catania. It could easily be called "La Strada delle Chiese", since it is possible to admire no less than 4 churches along the way. The must-see attraction of Via Crociferi is undoubtedly the former Benedictine monastery of San Nicolò l'Arena, which today it houses a part of the university. It is the 2nd largest building in Europe, and you can visit it both freely and with a tour guide.

Roman Theater of Catania

Although there isn't much left today, in case you have some time to spare, go and see the Roman Theater, near the Piazza del Duomo. You will be surprised by its architecture and its vaults. Seeing it there, surrounded by modern buildings, you will surely be charmed !.

The Ursino Castle

The Ursino Castle is an ancient Norman fortress that now houses the Civic Museum (which can be visited for free). Originally, this castle was located on top of a hill and was built on a cliff overlooking the sea. It is really difficult to imagine, given that today it is located about 1 km inland! The various earthquakes and the terrible volcanic eruption of Etna in 1669 totally changed the landscape of this area. The lava flows probably surrounded the castle without causing damage. The castle museum houses an important archaeological collection consisting of ceramic vases, sculptures and numerous paintings.

These are just some of the stops we recommend. Having the autonomy of rental car you can visit not only Catania, but time permitting the numerous attractions of the island. Let's not forget that in just 30 minutes you can reach Taormina, a well-known VIP location where the sea is transparent.
