Two different things happen at Catania Fontanarossa Airport, and they need two different plans. Some people land and need a rental car. Some people arrive in their own car, leave it and get on a plane. Mixing the two is the fastest way to waste time at the terminal: one passenger is looking for the rental desk or a staff member, the other is looking for a parking space and a transfer.

1. You land and you need a car

2. You arrive in your own car and you take a flight

Opposite profile. You already have a car. You need to leave it for 2, 5 or 10 days and reach check-in without looping around the official car parks at the last minute.

At Fontanarossa the options split like this:

• Official short stay (P1, P2, P3, P5) — only if you are dropping someone off and leaving within a few hours. The first minutes are free; after that the hourly rate climbs fast.
• Official long stay (P4, P6) — you stay on the airport site, often on foot. Fine if you want to avoid a shuttle and accept SAC’s list price.

Do not mix the two services

A common mistake is searching “Fontanarossa car rental” when you only need parking, or the other way round. The signals are simple:

• if the car must follow you on holiday after landing → rent at the airport;
• if the car must stay in Catania while you fly → parking;
• if a relative drops you off and drives away → official short stay, not a seven-day booking;
• if you have two cars (one stays, one is rented when someone lands) → two separate bookings, not one “airport service”.

Timing: how early to arrive

What is cheaper (ignore the slogan)

A day of rental and a day of parking are not comparable. They are different products.

• Rental: you pay for use of the car, basic insurance, any extra driver. Frank’s point is that you can skip a credit-card deposit: for many people that is the reason to book, not a discount code.
• Private parking nearby: around Brucoli the daily rate is a few euros, shuttle included. Over 7 days you compare that with P4/P6, not with a rented van.
• Official short-stay parking: use it for drop-off. Over a week it is almost always the most expensive line on the trip.

If the only question is “what does it cost to leave the car for eight days”, open the parking rate. If the question is “I need a car from Fontanarossa to Etna and Taormina”, open the rental. They are not the same query.

Quick questions

Can I rent with Frank and leave my own car at Fast Parking on the same trip?

Yes. They are two contracts. It happens when a relative stays in Sicily with the family car and you land later, or the other way round. Book the rental at the terminal and the stay at Via Brucoli as two separate operations.

Does the rental include parking for the days I do not use the car?

No. A rental is use of the vehicle. If you do not drive on one day of the trip, the rented car still stays with you: it is not a guarded parking stay.

If I am only dropping someone off and leaving after twenty minutes, do I need Via Brucoli?
